Recording – RDAA Journal Club: Dietary Interventions for Familial Hypercholesterolemia

Watch the recording of the April 2026 Journal Club webinar held on April 21, 2026.

Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) affects approximately 1 in 300 individuals worldwide, making it one of the most common genetic conditions.

Despite its prevalence, FH remains underdiagnosed and is associated with significant cardiovascular risk if left untreated.

In this session, frontline heart health and stroke prevention dietitian Kirby Ellis will provide an overview of the prevalence, diagnosis, mortality, treatment, and patient perspectives related to FH.

The session also includes a review of the article:

Impact of Diet on Plasma Lipids in Individuals with Heterozygous Familial Hypercholesterolemia: A Systematic Review of Randomized Controlled Nutritional Studies (Roy et al., 2021), with discussion focused on practical implications for dietetic practice.
