Who We Are
The Registered Dietitians Association of Alberta (RDAA) is the province-wide professional association for dietitians practising in Alberta. We were founded to give dietitians a collective voice and community that supports career growth, advocacy, and system-level integration.
What We Do
Membership in RDAA means you’re investing not just in your own career but in the future of the profession. Joining RDAA means aligning yourself with an association whose purpose is to propel dietetics forward in Alberta. You help build a profession that is strong, visible and integrated at the system level.
Key areas where we deliver value include:
Advocacy & Representation: We champion the role and recognition of dietitians within Alberta’s healthcare system, working toward improved access, integration and capacity.
Professional Development & Resources: Members gain access to webinars, workshops, a resource library of research, clinical guidelines and tool-kits.
Community & Networking: Through the RDAA community, you connect with practising dietitians across settings and career stages in Alberta.
Recognition & Leadership Opportunities: Members can participate in committees, receive awards, take leadership roles and be part of initiatives.
Member-Only Benefits: These include access to,member-only forum to connect with other RDs and ask questions, student/mentor-matching opportunities, free or discounted admission to events and conferences, and exclusive discounts on courses, continuing education, etc.
Why Your Membership Matters
When you join RDAA, you become part of a collective that is shaping the future of dietetics in Alberta. Since regulatory changes via Bill 46 required regulatory colleges to cease advocacy and association-type activities, RDAA fills that critical gap by focusing exclusively on the profession’s growth and public health impact.
Your membership helps:
- Strengthen the profession’s voice when negotiating system-level inclusion of dietitians
- Enable mentorship and development of new dietitians across Alberta
- Foster community and peer support, reducing professional isolation
- Provide tools and resources to keep your practice current and evidence-based
- It is an investment in your present-day practice and your long-term professional environment.

The Future of Alberta Dietitians
Dietitians in Alberta have an opportunity to strengthen our collective voice. As membership grows, the RDAA gains the capacity to drive meaningful change, expand our influence and support the profession in ways individual practitioners cannot achieve alone.
Membership enables the RDAA to:
- Advocate for fair representation within Alberta’s health systems
- Advance practice mobility so dietitians can work where they are needed
- Build partnerships that create new roles and opportunities
- Address barriers that limit public access to dietitians
- Highlight the expertise and value of dietitians across all sectors
- Deliver relevant professional development opportunities and member benefits
- Lead initiatives that elevate the visibility and credibility of dietitians across the province
Each new member strengthens the association’s impact. The more we grow, the more effectively we can shape the future of dietetics in Alberta.
If you want a future where dietitians have more influence, more recognition, and stronger opportunities, your membership with the RDAA is one of the most meaningful tools you can contribute.
